Parimutuel Betting 

Parimutuel betting has a long history in Vermont, dating back to the late 1950s. Since their introduction in 1959, all horse races in the state were held in Pownal at the Green Mountain Race Track. The only exception is a short stint at the Vermont State Fair, which organized the event before the Pownal track was opened in 1963. 

Greyhound racing was added to the offering in 1967, although it was banned in 1992. Green Mountain Race Track continued operating until 2008. Currently, off-track betting is available at local bars and through online OTB platforms.

Daily Fantasy Sports

Vermont legalized daily fantasy sports (DFS) contests in 2017. That means the state is the twelfth US jurisdiction to make it legal. Governor Scott put his signature to the bill even though many DFS platforms had operated illegally in Vermont for years.
