Global casino game software developer Play’n GO is steadily establishing its presence in the online casino industry in New Jersey. The popular game provider has most recently announced a business partnership in New Jersey with Resorts Digital.
The partnership with Resorts Digital will see the game provider release some of its most popular online slots in the New Jersey iGaming market, such as Book of Dead, Rise of Merlin, and Rise of Olympus, among other fan-favorite titles.
Resorts Digital Gaming became a subsidiary of Boyd Interactive in late September 2024, when the latter bought Resorts Digital for an undisclosed amount, the Associated Press reported at the time.
The Associated Press, citing the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement, noted the acquisition occurred after Resorts Digital saw its online platform earn more than five times the amount of the land-based casino in the first 8 months of 2024. During that time, Resorts Digital brought in $573 million against the $109 million of the brick-and-mortar Resorts casino.
During the first 6 months of 2024, the land-based Resort casino saw an 89% drop in gross operating profit compared to the year before. On the other hand, Resorts Digital saw a 5.6% increase compared to the same period in 2023.
The Resorts Digital – Play’n GO partnership will allow Boyd Interactive to offer Play’n GO’s products to New Jersey players through its two digital gaming brands: Resorts Online Casino and Mohegan Sun Online Casino.
Play’n GO-Resorts Digital Partnership Signifies New Jersey’s Rising iGaming Market
New Jersey is one of just seven states that have a regulated online casino (iGaming) sector. But as some iGaming-friendly states, like Rhode Island, take a more measured approach to embracing online casinos. New Jersey and its principal gaming regulation authority, the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement, are marching forward with confident strides.
In early November 2024, Play’n GO struck a deal with Hard Rock Digital to supply games for the company’s eponymous digital casino and sportsbook, Hard Rock Bet.
At the time, Play’n GO Chief Commercial Officer Magnus Olsson issued a statement describing The Garden State as a “key state for our US operations.” He echoed that sentiment following Play’n GO’s partnership agreement with Resorts Digital Gaming, saying New Jersy is “of crucial importance” to the company’s success in the United States.
Play’n GO first entered the US market in July 2022 in West Virginia. A few months later, in September, the popular slots developer and provider released its product in New Jersey. The company also offers its products in Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and Michigan.
While New Jersey’s iGaming sector continues to expand rapidly, the process is thoughtful and considerate of consumers, ensuring player protection on every level.
In mid-December 2024, the Division of Gaming Enforcement announced a new and improved self-exclusion system online that eliminates the need to go to a physical casino or schedule a video conference with a DGE representative to self-exclude.
