The casino industry in Delaware ended the year on a high. The December data just came in, and the state raked in a total monthly net revenue increase of 23.5%. Talking numbers, the Delaware Lottery disclosed that December 2024 saw an 18.4% gaming net revenue growth, from $6.2 million generated in November to $7.6 million made in December.

Perhaps even more striking is last month’s revenue increase when compared to 12 months ago. Namely, December 2024 recorded a 432% growth compared to December 2023, from $1.16 million to $7.6 million. The table games grossed 117.9$ million and generated revenue of $2.5 million, which is a 17% increase compared to November 2024. Similarly, video bets totalled $117.9 million with a $5 million month-on-month increase.

The numbers don’t lie. Despite rising inflation and the cost of living crisis, the iGaming industry is continually on the rise, providing a steady net revenue stream for the First State. Although Delaware is a relatively small market compared to, say, New Jersey or Pennsylvania, its monthly revenue results are monitored carefully since Delaware is among the early adopters of online gaming regulation.

Casino-by-Casino Profits in Delaware

All three online casinos operating in Delaware have reported profits, sharing the $7.6 million pie in three uneven chunks. The highest net revenue went to Delaware Park, an online extension of the Delaware Park thoroughbred racetrack and land casino, which made $3.7 million in December. That’s a 14.1% increase compared to the previous month and a whopping 732% more than December 2023.

The Harrington Casino, the second of the state’s three online casinos, netted just over $2.2 million but recorded the biggest month-on-month net revenue growth of 34.6%. Lastly, Bally’s Dover reported a 32.5% increase and net revenue of $1.6 million. All three have shown remarkable resilience to the growing challenges, such as illegal gambling which runs rampant throughout the country.

Sports Betting Takes a Hit

However, not everything is rosy in the First State. iGaming is growing fast with more players and higher revenue. But sports betting in the state is struggling. Even though bets hit a record for the third month in a row, the state lost $174,859 in December 2024.

For example, BetRivers made only $41,169 in net profits, the second lowest since Delaware legalized sports betting six years ago. Still, Delaware remains a strong market for online gaming and sports betting.

In 2024, Evolution entered the state through a deal with Rush Street Interactive. Sports betting has also grown every month since July 2024.
