Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board reported strong revenue numbers for April 2025. The total revenue increased by 10.7% year-on-year, reaching $558.7 million compared to $504.7 million in April 2024. The numbers fell just 2.8% shy of the March record, which, as it were, had one extra day to spare.
The total tax revenue for April 2025 stands at $234.5 million.
iGaming Still Going Strong
The iGaming sector is once again the primary driving force behind growth, accounting for a significant portion of the generated revenue. It raked in a total of $227.7 million, representing a 31.3% year-on-year increase and a 4.4% decrease from last month.
Online slots reported the biggest growth (34.5%), amassing a total revenue of $169.5 million. Table games accounted for $55.9 million, while online poker contributed $2.3 million. The iGaming taxes were $100,8 million.
The spread among the industry’s major players remains largely unchanged. Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course led the pack in April with $83.2 million in revenue, followed by Valley Forge Casino Resort with $66.7 million and Rivers Casino Philadelphia with $35.9 million.
Sports Betting Stands Still
Sports betting in the Keystone State in April is on consistent numbers revenue-wise, although the handle is up 10.1% year-on-year. The sports betting revenue totalled $42.5 million, which is a slight increase from both April 2024 and the previous month. The same thing applies to Fantasy Contests, which is up 2.34% over April 2024.
FanDuel and Valley Forge Casino Resort reported $20.1 million in gross revenue, followed by DraftKings and Hollywood Casino at the Meadows with $12.1 million. The distant third was held by Bet365 Presque Isle Downs and Casino ($1.9 million).
Brick-and-Mortar Unchanged
A similar pattern can be observed in the retail gambling sector, with land-based slot machines raking in $203.1 million in April. This is a mere 1.16% shy of last year but with fewer slot machines in operation (24,363 compared to 24,890). The total tax revenue from land-based slots was $102,8 million.
The retail table games revenue was $ 80.6 million, marking a 2.70% year-on-year increase and contributing $13.5 million in taxes.
