Pennsylvania sets a new gambling revenue record with $574.5 million reported in March 2025. This is a new monthly record for this US state despite drops in land-based casinos and sports betting. The latest figures show that Pennsylvania achieved a 3.6% increase in gambling revenue compared to March last year.
What’s more, the latest revenue figures also reveal that March 2025 grossed 20.4% more than February this year. The report was published by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) on April 21, 2025.
iGaming Drives the Growth
Online casinos are once again the main driving force in the state, generating a record $238.2 million in the previous month. This number shows a 24.7% rise over March 2024. Out of the total earned by the iGaming market in Pennsylvania, slots contributed $179.5 million, reflecting a 32.5% year-over-year growth. At the same time, online table games also showed a 5.8% increase, generating $56.2 million, while online poker earnings grew by 3.3%, reaching $2.6 million.
Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course and its online gaming partners generated the highest earnings in March, collecting $90.7 million from iGaming across slots, table games, and online poker. Valley Forge Casino Resort ranked second in the state with $64.8 million in revenue, followed by Rivers Casino Philadelphia with $38.6 million.
Sports Betting Sees Revenue Drop
Interestingly, though, even though players spent 5.3% more on sports betting than in March last year, the revenue in this segment dropped 40.7% year-on-year to $27 million. Online betting earned $25.6 million, while retail sportsbooks contributed $1.5 million.
The sports betting operator leading the PA market is FanDuel with its land-based partner, Valley Forge Casino Resort. Both accumulated $9.4 million in revenue of a $328.6 million handle, leaving a 2.86% hold.
DraftKings and Hollywood Casino at the Meadows earned $8.8 million, BetMGM and partner Hollywood Casino Morgantown generated $1.9 million, while Hollywood Casino at Penn National and ESPN Bet earned $1.5 million. Finally, Fanatics Sportsbook, which partners with Hollywood Casino York, yielded $1.1 million.
Land-Based Casino Earnings Keep Declining
In contrast to the steady growth of the iGaming sector, land-based casinos in Pennsylvania continue to face an even greater decrease in revenue. The main source of income in this vertical are retail slot machines, generating $222.5 million. Although this number seems reasonable, it’s actually 2.4% less than it used to be. At the same time, table games revenue also dropped 3.9% to $81.9 million.
Finally, another good news for Pennsylvania is that the state collected $244.3 million in taxes from all gambling activities in March 2025. iGaming, once again, leads the way, enabling the state to collect $106.3 million.
